Description
I am the artist of this bolo tie and I also cut and polished the stone. It is a large Wild Horse (Crazy Horse) Cabochon shaped roughly in the fashion of an arrowhead, minus a sharp tip. Wild Horse (Magnesite) comes out of the Gila in Southeastern Arizona and was only in the last 30 years mostly put into current jewelry production. There are some interesting stories behind this wonderful stone. Generally, Wild Horse is a mixture of white and red, sometimes in equal parts. I chose to cut it with mostly the red you see which also displays the many veins, imperfections, and various other minerals that give it such an interesting and unique appearance. The stone, itself, weighs about 20 grams, almost 100 carats, and the total weight is about 1.6 ounces (48 grams) including the sterling silver setting as well as the tie and sterling silver tips. I used a 20 gauge (heavy) sterling setting with a pretty solid sterling bezel. The clasp for the tie on the reverse is probably nickel, as they generally come. I chose to use a 42 inch length of braided black leather tie (not synthetic) with nice sterling tips. The edges of the plates are gently hammered and the overall appearance draws immediate attention to the beautiful stone. This is NEW and just recently completed. I am offering a 30 day period for you to test it out and see how it feels. If you love it, know that I can produce matching bracelets or rings in a short amount of time.
Ships out next business day USPS First Class Mail with delivery confirmation in a secure box.
