For your consideration, this auction features an unusually colored, primarily jasperized and agatized petrified wood flat face mirror polished specimen originating from the HooDoo Basin in Eastern Oregon, a remote and lesser known location within the Owyhee Mountains! HooDoo Basin has given up several gem quality fossil beds over nearly a century of known collection, and this particular specimen is indicative of the quality of gem wealth that no doubtedly still exists in the last of the unexplored Wild West! The specimen is abundant in pigmentation and the overall opaque appearance, in addition to the hardness of the gem evidenced by the polish, leads me to believe this is xyloid (jasperized) and agatized fossil wood. The detailed photographs do show some translucent agatized areas, especially within the blue colored locations, of the petrified wood in addition to an opalized rind, or bark. The exceptional, mirror polished 3/4 round specimen weighs 1lb 12.6 ounces exactly and measures 80mm by 65mm by 90mm thick. All photographs taken while the specimen was dry. I will combine shipping for multiple purchases as long as the specimens can be packaged in a manner that minimizes the potential for damage.
