#13472 is a medium pair of petrified wood bookends weighing 7.4 pounds. They are many shades of brown from cream to very dark chocolate with burnt orange highlights and traces of blood red. They have rugged multicolored bark, natural cavities and a plethora of growth lines. They are 11 1/8” wide, 5 5/8” tall and 2” thick standing vertically or 11 1/2” wide 5 1/2” tall and 2” thick standing horizontally. This set was taken from a tree that lived, died and petrified in the Columbia River Basalt during the Miocene epoch more than 23 million years ago on what we now refer to as
Saddle Mountain in
eastern
Washington State
. They are polished to a mirror finish and the bottom and sides are felted to protect your bookshelf.
