Eagle Creek Formation Petrified Wood ~ 5 Pieces ~ 4 lbs 8 oz

Description

Here are five great pieces of petrified wood from the Eagle Creek Formation, dating it to 34 - 28 MYA. One piece has a section of botryoidal (bubbly) quartz and agatized wood. All four large pieces are very solid and show growth rings of relatively the same size.
The white and brown coloring indicates that silicon and calcium were the predominant soil minerals, while the dark brown indicates iron oxide and the gray and black indicates organic carbon. Silicon, chrome and cobalt gives some of the pieces their blue coloring.
These are very nice, solid pieces that show the general characteristics of the Eagle Creek Formation.
